Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson is holding a soup supper and silent auction Wednesday, Dec. 10, as a fundraiser for the LERT trailer.
The LERT trailer is part of the Lutheran Emergency Response Team, volunteers who have been trained to help communities during emergencies. It will contain items needed to help families recover from an emergency situation; included will be assorted tools, chainsaws, etc. The team and the trailer will be available for emergencies in the Midwest. The trailer is sponsored by the Boone zone of Iowa District West, Missouri Synod. Greene County is part of the Boone zone and the trailer will be housed in Greene County.
The Dec. 10 Community Fellowship series will feature a program about LERT volunteers and the LERT trailer at 4:30 pm. The menu for a 5 pm supper includes chili, chili dogs and chicken noodle soup. A free will donation will be accepted.
A silent auction is in progress now at the church, with final bids Dec. 10 during the supper.
This is a Thrivent Action Team event; all donations will be used for supplies for the LERT trailer.
